When travelling in Paris, I highly recommend that you visit the lesser known museum – Petit Palais.

This museum is an architectural beauty dating back to 1900, situated on the avenue des Champs-Elysées. The impressive building was built for the Universal Exposition and houses the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris. It also contains a magnificent courtyard and garden.

As well as housing impressive art collections, the beautiful itself is worthy of visiting. The gardens are also lovely offering a peaceful haven where you can stop and have a drink.

There are over 1,300 artworks in the museum (sculptures, paintings, tapestries, art objects, icons). From Ancient and Medieval collections, to French and Italian Renaissance.

You will find a rich collection of paintings from major French artists of the 19th century including  Delacroix, Monet, Sisley, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, Courbet, Cassatt etc.
